Telangana High Court Declines Interim Orders to Postpone TSPSC’s Group-1 Preliminary Exams

In a recent development, the Telangana High Court exhibited a lack of inclination to issue interim orders for the postponement of the Telangana State Public Service Commission’s (TSPSC) Group-1 preliminary exams, which are currently scheduled for June 11.

Justice Pulla Karthik presided over the hearing of a petition filed by approximately 36 TSPSC Group-1 aspirants, who sought a two-month delay in the examination. The petitioners argued that the time gap between the Group 1, 2, 3, and 4 examinations was insufficient. These examinations are being conducted for the first time since the formation of the state of Telangana. The aspirants contended that a two-month postponement would enable individuals appearing for all the group exams to adequately prepare.

Advocate General B.S. Prasad, representing the TSPSC, countered the petition by highlighting that all necessary arrangements had already been made for the conduction of the exams. The exams are expected to witness participation from over five lakh candidates. Furthermore, he stated that the preliminary exams were being re-conducted due to the cancellation of the previous exams, which were marred by a question paper leak.

The court has issued a notification to the TSPSC and other concerned parties to respond to the petition by June 20. However, it is important to note that the examination schedule remains unchanged, with the exams still set to take place on June 11.
